Imagine removing Jonathan Taylor from your DFS lineups last week because JSN had the sniffles. I had my lineup locked down by Wednesday aside from swapping a minimum Carson Wentz for a minimum Marcus Mariota (who was absolutely robbed of a touchdown) after Jayden Daniels was ruled out, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s sudden questionable tag had me rethinking things.
JSN had volume concerns given the likely game-script (proven true!), and THE BLITZ projected Kenneth Walker as the slate’s literal RB1 with Zach Charbonnet out. So, I switched out Taylor, JSN and Jake Ferguson for CeeDee Lamb, K9 and Juwan Johnson in 94% of my lineups Sunday morning. To be clear, these were my only entries during this slate, and I play a high number of “winner take alls,” so it was easy to compare how much the gaffe cost me.
No one likes to hear about people winning, but I figured my pain would be entertaining/relatable. Let’s make some money in Week 4.
Quarterbacks
Caleb Williams ($5.8K) @ Las Vegas Raiders
Williams has been the No. 3 fantasy QB, but he’s priced as the QB11 this week in DraftKings despite a matchup against a pass-funnel defense. The Raiders rank second best in EPA/rush allowed but sixth-worst in EPA/pass allowed. Chicago can’t run the ball anyway, so volume should be there for Williams in an indoors matchup with one of this week’s higher over/unders (47.5 points). Williams is 100% benefitting from Ben Johnson’s new system, but it counts all the same in fantasy.
