These are my favorite running backs going in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.
Tank Bigsby, PHI
Bigsby entered summer looking like the league’s top pure backup for fantasy purposes, but there’s now talk of him even eating into Saquon Barkley’s workload while continuing to impress. The 23-year-old jumped off the tape during his limited touches after getting traded to Philadelphia last season, and few if any players offer Bigsby’s upside at his ADP. The Eagles project to have one of the league’s best offensive lines and an upgraded system under new OC Sean Mannion. Kevin Patullo was a real problem.
Bigsby has “league winning” fantasy potential should Barkley go down.
Keaton Mitchell, LAC
Mitchell remains behind Omarion Hampton on Los Angeles’ depth chart despite new OC Mike McDaniel saying the Chargers will go with the “hot hand” at running back. But the quote reveals how excited McDaniel is about Mitchell, whom the OC hand-picked during the offseason. Kimani Vidal will also be part of the rotation, but McDaniel and a healthier offensive line in L.A. will lead to fantasy production.
McDaniel is second among play callers in expected backfield fantasy points over the past three seasons, and Kimani Vidal played while Mitchell rested with LA’s starters during the team’s first preseason game. Hampton has yet to prove he can handle a full NFL workload, so Keaton “Missile” is a sleeper.
