Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Week 10: Pickups to patch your damaged rosters

We are now officially beyond the halfway point in your fantasy season, so let’s hope you have a clear understanding of your roster needs. If you have holes to fill, we have a few ideas. Each week around here, we offer a collection of playable fantasy options, all available in over 50% of leagues and approved for use.

Four teams are on bye in Week 10, three of which are fantasy powerhouses (Cincinnati, Dallas, Kansas City) and one of which is the Titans. Let’s get to work…

QUARTERBACKS

Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders

10% rostered

Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated left (non-throwing) elbow late in a lost game on Sunday night, an injury that's likely to cost him multiple weeks if not end his season. So that's terrible. We cannot offer positive spin at this time. A nightmare season for Washington just got a bit worse.

For the third time this year, Mariota will take the controls for the Commanders. He's headed into a pair of matchups that would be appealing in fantasy under normal circumstances (vs. Det, at Mia), so, at a minimum, he's back in your superflex plans. Mariota isn't an ideal streaming option in one-QB leagues, but his outlook would improve if Terry McLaurin can return from his quad injury.

Sigh. What an unsatisfying blurb this has been. Sorry I had to write it.

J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings

25% rostered

McCarthy was alternately one of Sunday’s best and worst quarterbacks. He made a few terrific throws — notably the dart to Justin Jefferson for the one-handed TD and the back-shoulder to Nailor to seal the game.

He also scrambled for a 9-yard score, reminding us of his dual-threat ability.

I’m not recommending that you send your child to J.J. McCarthy Quarterback Camp just yet, however. He was an agent of chaos against Detroit, completing only 14 of 25 throws and tossing a pick on a bad ball behind his intended receiver. It wasn’t a clinic.

And yet, well … [deep breath] … he’s on the radar in our game. McCarthy is the guy firing passes to Jefferson and Addison, which gives him a weekly ceiling. He’s headed into a friendly home matchup against Baltimore, for what it’s worth.
