Week 8 Game Recaps: Jonathan Taylor gets another hat trick

Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts

• Jonathan Taylor scored three touchdowns in a game for the fourth time this season. He's recorded a hat trick three times over the last four weeks. JT somehow finished with the second most rushing yards (153) this week while seeing only 12 carries in a blowout. Taylor had an 80-yard TD run during his first touch after halftime, and he’s now on pace to score 30 touchdowns. He’s clearly been the NFL’s most valuable non-quarterback this season.

• Michael Pittman Jr. came down with a circus catch and then an unbelievable one-handed TD grab later the same drive. He was fantasy’s WR2 this week despite the return of Josh Downs.

• Daniel Jones threw more than two TD passes for the first time since 2019. He’s the only QB with at least 200 passing yards and a touchdown in every game this season.

• The Colts entered averaging the fewest punts per game (1.7) in NFL history and have set a record for most consecutive red-zone scoring drives.

• Tony Pollard saw just 50% of the RB carries and lost a goal-line touchdown to Tyjae Spears, who also averaged 2.6 YPC more.

• Rookie Chimere Dike impressed while leading Tennessee in targets (eight), catches (seven) and receiving yards (93).

New York Jets @ Cincinnati Bengals

• Breece Hall had a nice 27-yard TD run and the game-winning touchdown pass. He totaled 147 yards from scrimmage and three scores after entering with zero touchdowns over 118 touches on the season. The Jets ran for 254 yards in a highly favorable matchup, but Hall looked terrific and gave a glimpse of what could be in a competent offense.

• Justin Fields is high variance, but he can look good at times when not pressured much like Sunday. Fields had a great TD pass on fourth down with the blitz in his face, and he helped the Jets overcome a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter while missing Garrett Wilson.

• Aaron Glenn deserves credit for being uncharacteristically aggressive during fourth downs and shrewdly going for two down eight points (despite what the clueless Adam Archuleta said).

• The Jets are the only team yet to record an interception this season.

• Joe Flacco had two TD passes and his first TD run since 2017 all before halftime, but he was mostly quiet afterward with his RBs scoring both touchdowns in the second half.

• Ja’Marr Chase saw an NFL-high 19 targets and is up to 54 over three games with Flacco. That’s a season’s pace of 306 targets. He saw a 58% target share Sunday and looks like fantasy’s WR1 rest of season.

• Chase Brown scored twice and had his best fantasy game of the year by far, but he ceded 42.9% of the RB rush attempts to Samaje Perine, who looked great while getting 10.4 YPC.

• This was the only game all week not decided by at least 10+ points.
