The injuries hit early on Sunday and they simply did not stop. It was a day that likely made a mess of any future fantasy plans you might have formulated. Let’s review the waiver priorities ahead of a huge swing week in fantasy. With one exception (right at the top), every name below is currently available in a majority of actively managed leagues.

RUNNING BACKS

Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals

59% rostered at Sleeper

It’s highly unlikely that Benson is actually available in any league that’s even moderately deep or competitive, but the Arizona backfield situation obviously deserves a mention. James Conner was carted off the field on Sunday following a gruesome ankle injury and we shouldn’t expect to see him back in action any time soon — brutal news for a terrific player.

In Conner’s absence, Benson ran as the primary back for the Cardinals, substantially out-snapping and out-touching Emari Demercado. Benson finished the afternoon with a modest 51 yards on 13 touches. He’s clearly at the top of Arizona’s backfield depth chart heading into Thursday’s home matchup with Seattle. If he happens to be unattached in your league, this is an empty-the-wallet FAAB situation.

FAAB: All of it.

Ollie Gordon, Miami Dolphins

33% rostered

Gordon was barely a rumor in the first two weeks for Miami, but he saw a significant uptick in usage on Thursday night, with the expected results. He finished with nine carries for 38 yards against Buffalo, with an early 2-yard score included. Stylistically, Gordon is the perfect between-the-tackles complement to a speedy teacup running back like De’Von Achane.
