After a low-scoring Week 1, points were abundant Sunday; games averaged 54.7 points, which were the second highest all time in days with 10+ matchups before Sunday night’s defensive struggle. Joe Burrow’s potentially serious turf toe injury was this week’s headline, as he could be sidelined for months. Onto the Week 2 fantasy recaps.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cincinnati Bengals
• Burrow suffered a possible Grade 3 turf toe injury midway through the second quarter, and he could require surgery and miss at least three months. The injury is obviously bad news for Chase Brown, Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, although the WRs remained plenty productive Sunday after Burrow left.
Browning had gotten 8.0 YPA throughout his career (243 attempts) before getting 7.5 on Sunday. He threw three bad picks and will hurt the offense, but Browning targeted Chase and Higgins relentlessly and posted a higher aDOT than Burrow. He's been productive when given the chance so far in his career. Unfortunately, the Bengals get four of the league’s best defenses (@Min, @Den, @GB, Pit) over the next five weeks.
• Brown has seen 96% of the backfield opportunities for Cincinnati through the first two weeks, but his anemic efficiency won’t be helped by the loss of Burrow or Cincinnati’s upcoming schedule.
