Over the past six decades, predating the Super Bowl era, tight end has generally been a position dominated by singular, undeniable talents.
Travis Kelce has ruled this spot like an absolute tyrant throughout his career, finishing as a top-three fantasy tight end in eight consecutive seasons (2016-2023), including five as the overall TE1. Kelce's reign was of course preceded by Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez and various other legends, dating back to John Mackey and Mike Ditka. Under normal circumstances, we do not have uncertainty at tight end. Instead, we have a clear and unrivaled alpha.
So if history is any guide, Brock Bowers is about to squash all challengers at his position and control the fantasy leaderboard for years to come. However, we have uncommon depth of talent at tight end these days, so we probably shouldn't concede the throne to Bowers just yet.
